Upon my recent travel to four different airport, I had the chance of trying out wifi offered at three different airport, or at least, attempted to.

First airport – Portland International Airport. Which offers free wifi, covers most of the airport gates and lobbies. When you first turn on your computer, you will see this:

Second airport – Orlando International Airport. Wifi? What wifi, they simply don’t offer it.

Third airport – Salt Lake City. It is a bigger airport than PDX, and they do offer wifi. But this is what I find funny. They have whole bunch of flyers, posters, telling people how great the airport is, they offer wifi! Yet it’s just the same thing as Starbucks “hotspot” wifi service, where you have to pay something like $10 for 24 hours.

Verdict: PDX wins all. Free wifi everywhere!

UPDATE:
Upon Mizuki’s question of what other airport offers free wifi, I also found a list of free wifi offered in oregon. [Link]

Thank you all for participating in this annual (?) gathering event, I have had a great time, and I hope you did too. First of all, I will have to apologize to all of you for my rudeness at several occuasions. I have never planned an event with this many people, so the frustration when something doesn’t go as planned overwhelmed me.

It was truely too bad that the weather wasn’t very good, i guess we were lucky enough to experience Sunriver rain, which happened rarely. I am considering making this into an annual trip, but nothing certain yet, and we will find out next year. But if we do it next year, it will be sometime in the end of May or June.

After celebrating Eric’s birthday and Valentine’s day at Hot Pot City, Les kindly took us to Panic and showed us around.

The tour was rather exciting, especially since we have already heard so much about it – The 7-men team that develops some of the best Mac software out there (Transmit, Unison, and CandyBar). Unlike most working places, Panic is a fun place to work according to Les, “I have to put on my headphone so I can get work done, otherwise I’ll just keep laughing because my coworkers are too funny,” said Les. Panic started out with two people developing Audion at their own apartment, but since then the workforce has more than tripled (to seven people) and has international relations (with Japan).

The headquarter is located in Pearl District of Portland, with overpriced condos and classy furnature stores surrounding it, Panic is a rarity in its location. The clean hallway and uber tall ceiling elevator, it all leads to the firm that makes power apps for Mac. One picture means a thousand words, I have 34,000 words then.

Downtown (1st and 2nd Street) –
