Sad Reminder of How Fragile Life Is

I witnessed one of the most tragic events that I have experienced in a very long time. It happened yesterday afternoon, as I was going to Sammy’ house. After parked my car by the side of the street, I noticed a lot of cars suddenly slowed down, at first I thought it was a car accident, but what I saw was one of the saddest thing. It was a cat crawling with his two legs trying to get from the middle of the street to the other side. It was obvious that someone has just run it over. Only that it wasn’t a quick finish, it only got the back half of the cat.

The cat crawled all the way to Sammy’s neighbor’s yard; I quickly stopped the cat from going any further. Two of the witnesses also stopped to see if they could do anything. The cat still didn’t realize what has happened, it seemed like the cat didn’t feel any pain, just confused why he can’t run anymore. Sammy’s brother grabbed a box and some towels; we put the cat in the box and covered it with the towels. Sammy and her mom started going around the neighborhood asking if the cat belonged to someone there.

Unfortunately they couldn’t find out if it was a stray cat or not, but judging from its appearance, it didn’t look like it was cared. The cat gradually started feeling the pain from internal bleeding, as we started noticing some blood in its ear. The cat violently tried to get out of the box, the only thing we could do is try to make it more comfortable. Eventually the cat started going to shocks, grasping for air, and eventually died.

It is a sad reminder for us on how fragile life can be, especially seeing how a life ended right in front of my eyes.

Moral of the story:

  1. Don’t abandon your cat.
  2. Don’t drive 45 mph on a 25 mph zone.

It was sad… just as sad as “Nobody Knows”, but I think everybody should experience those kind of things at least once, just so they would appreciate life more. So many people think they own the world and can do whatever they want, they need to know how fragile life can be, even their own.

you know, it’s even worse in taiwan. my sister witnessed a cab driver hit a stray dog. the dog wasn’t dead yet, and the driver didn’t care so he kept driving… the dog basically dragged under the car for about a block or so. yeah, imagine how bad/sad THAT is.

I probably just made your day even worse, I’m done.
