Near the beginning of the year, a flaw was exploited for the MSN Permium service. Basically anybody can get a permium service for free. All that you need is the Verizon DSL installation file; during the installation, it will upgrade your normal stingy hotmail account into premium service, and if you cancel the installation after that, you do not have to sign up for Verizon DSL service.
By being a cheap Chinese guy, I did that, and it was lovely. However, I received an email last week from MSN, requesting me to go to a verizon webpage, and do a one-time username/password confirmation. And if I don’t confirm it by the end of January, my MSN premium service will be terminated. Honestly, I could careless about the premium service since I don’t really use anything but Hotmail. And since hotmail has been upgraded to 250MB basic, so it’s pretty much all I need. But in the latter notice, it stated that “hotmail account will be inaccessible”, and that got me worried.
I tried to sign up a premium service, thinking that by doing so, it would overwrite the verizon upgrade. However, the msn webpage knows I already have a permium service and wouldn’t let me sign up for another one. So I tried to cancel the permium service from Verizon, but that requires me to login to Verizon website and cancel it from there. But since I never signed up for the Verizon DSL, thus I don’t have an account with them.
Worst case of the worst, I’ll have to sign up for anther accunt for my MSN messenger service, but we’ll see what happens.
